The HCS Summer Reading Assignment for grades 6-12 is an optional reading opportunity for students to read over the course of the summer, complete an activity about the reading, and receive 1 bonus point added to the first quarter grade and a pizza party celebration at WPMS in the 2023-24 school year. The student may read 2 books (fiction or nonfiction) OR 20 informational text articles of his/her choice and must complete the reading activity in the 2023 MS ELA Summer Reading Challenge Schoology site. If you have any questions, contact your child’s current English Language Arts teacher or Ms. Laurie Wise @ lwise@horrycountyschools.net. You can check out books from the Horry County Memorial Library throughout the summer two different ways... by going to the library and getting actual books or accessing their ebooks and audiobooks for free. If you would like to go to the library, you will need a HCML library card. If you only want to check out ebooks and audiobooks, you will just need a HCML digital ecard.
How to get an HCML library card:
Stop by the Library Learning Commons or see your ELA teacher for an HCML application. Take it home and have your parents help you complete it and return it to Ms. Wise before May 27th, in order to get your card back before June 2nd.
How to get an HCML digital ecard:
Send an email to hcml@horrcounty.org and include the following and you will receive an email with your login information:
Full name
