4th grade Homeroom
This is my 14th year at Burgess Elementary. I have taught 4th grade GT Reading, GT Math, Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies as well as 5th grade GT Reading and Science. In 2012 I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and in 2018 I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Literacy.
My hobbies include reading, spending time with my family, traveling to National Parks, and hunting for shark's teeth at the beach. You will see some of my travels as well as my dog Mo in the photos to the left (hit the arrow to view more of my photos)!
The best way to reach me is through email: CAdam@horrycountyschools.net . I contact parents through email and students through Google Classroom or in person.
Support every student in our class, not just you own

Encourage working through struggles
Ask questions instead of giving opinions
Be a positive influence for our school and your child's education
4th grade is where students start to apply all they have learned so far in elementary school. Sometimes that is challenging for students, and parents. Our goal is not only to teach students academics but also to be responsible people. In order to do this, students need to be held accountable for their failures as much as their successes. When I email you it is typically because I have already gone over the information with students and therefore they should be able to answer questions you have. I will also contact you by email or phone if I have academic or behavioral concerns. I do not check their agendas everyday so if you write a note please make sure your child knows to share it with me. If you have a pressing matter, email is the best way to contact me.

This is an app and a website where I post assignments and communicate with students. Pay close attention to the Classwork tab, this is where all graded assignments will appear. This can be viewed on any device, you just need your child’s log-in. There is even an option for you to sign up as a guardian on your child’s account to help monitor their progress. If you would like to see it your child can log in and give you a tour.
Elementary schools will use the following term weights and minimum number of assignments:
Practice grades: 50% with a minimum of 5 assignments
Mid-level grades: 30% with a minimum of 3 assignments
Summative grades: 20% with a minimum of 2 assignments
All grades are posted in PowerSchool typically a day or two after we assess. Please check PowerSchool with your child regularly or set it up to email you weekly reports. I will mark assignments as missing or write comments on assignments in special circumstances. This is how grades are communicated until students graduate high school so please familiarize yourself with it.
