Rise with Reading is a districtwide literacy challenge designed to motivate and celebrate reading among our 48,000 K-12 students. Spearheaded by Superintendent Jones, the program sets a quarterly goal of reading 1,000 pages per student quarterly, encouraging daily reading habits, improving literacy, and building a shared culture of learning. Through achievable goals, recognition, and engaging resources, we aim to build a community of readers and celebrate the joy of learning.
Increased Reading Fluency: Reading more pages improves reading speed and comprehension.
Expanded Vocabulary: Exposure to a wider range of texts leads to a richer vocabulary.
Enhanced Comprehension Skills: Reading a variety of materials improves understanding and critical thinking.
Motivation and Engagement: The challenge provides a sense of accomplishment and encourage students to enjoy reading.
Stronger Reading Skills: Reading regularly helps students develop a foundation for future academic success.
Each student reads 1,000 pages per quarter (4,000 pages/year).
All schools participate, utilizing provided tracking tools and incentives.
Recognition of top readers, classes, and schools each quarter.
Students earn digital badges along the way to celebrate page milestones.
