Literacy Leaders

During the 2022-2023 school year, NEHS members joined together to raise over 1000 books for Fostering Hope which is an organization that provides necessities for children in crisis situations. NEHS members also participated in Carolina Forest Elementary School's Literacy Night by reading science books to students. To show appreciation for our English teachers, NEHS students donated boxes of tissues adorned with quotes from their favorite literary works. 

During the 2020-2021 school year, the pandemic prevented members from visiting local elementary schools. However, NEHS members joined together and created videos of them reading their favorite children's books. These videos were shared with local elementary schools.

In 2018, the Carolina Forest High School chapter of the National English Honor Society initiated a program with our elementary feeder schools. Literacy Leaders teams NEHS members with after-school programs at local elementary schools to assist students with literacy skills. Last spring, NEHS members volunteered 40+ hours tutoring in after-school programs at our local elementary schools.
