The Christmas Market in Strasbourg is a quintessential experience for immersing yourself in the holiday spirit. Set against the backdrop of the stunning, old town, the market is adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, creating a magical atmosphere. Visitors can savor traditional Alsacien foods like tarte flambée, beignets, bretzels , and hot cocoa while wandering through the charming wooden stalls filled with handcrafted ornaments, artisanal goods, and unique gifts. Live music, carolers, and the towering Christmas tree at Place Kléber add to the enchanting ambiance, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking the true essence of Christmas.
I got to experience so much in in Strasbourg and Alsace so stay tuned!

Winter is long gone here in Strasbourg
If you’re visiting Strasbourg, I highly recommend spending some time at the Parc de l’Orangerie. It’s the city’s oldest park and one of its most charming green spaces. Here you’ll find beautiful blossom trees in the spring that make the whole park look like a painting, as well as large open lawns perfect for picnics or just relaxing under the sun. Families love it because there are well-equipped playgrounds for kids, as well as a small zoo.
You can also rent rowboats and paddle across the lake, which adds a romantic and peaceful touch to any visit. For those who enjoy walking or jogging, the winding paths surrounded by tall trees and flowers make it an ideal spot to unwind. In the summer, you’ll even find little cafés and snack stands, making it easy to spend the whole afternoon here.
The park is especially popular with locals, so it’s a great way to experience the everyday life of Strasbourg outside the more tourist-heavy areas. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing break, a family-friendly outing, or simply a beautiful place to take photos, Parc de l’Orangerie is a must-see.

One of the most enchanting spots in Strasbourg is without a doubt Petite France. Wandering through this historic district feels like stepping straight into a storybook. The narrow cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses with flower-filled balconies, and canals reflecting the old architecture create a picture-perfect atmosphere.
It’s no surprise that the Alsace region, with Strasbourg at its heart, is said to have inspired one of my favorite movies, Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Walking through Petite France, you can immediately see the resemblance. You couldn't tell me that this isn't the “little town”.
Some of my favorite things to do here:
🌸 Stroll along the canals and capture photos of the iconic houses mirrored in the water.
🍽 Stop at a traditional winstub (Alsatian restaurant) to try local dishes like tarte flambée or choucroute garnie.

One of the things that struck me most about Strasbourg is how the Cathédrale Notre-Dame seems to follow you wherever you go. No matter what corner of the city you turn down, you can usually spot its spire rising above the rooftops. It almost feels like a compass — if you keep walking toward it, you’ll eventually find yourself right in the heart of the city center.
The first time I stood in front of it, I couldn’t believe how massive and detailed it was. The closer you get, the more you notice — thousands of carvings, each one telling a little story, from saints to gargoyles. It’s both overwhelming and mesmerizing at the same time. Inside, the stained-glass windows glow with colors that change depending on the time of day, filling the cathedral with this incredible light that makes you just stop and stare.
What really amazed me was how beautiful it looked no matter the angle. From far away, it dominates the skyline; from up close, it feels like a masterpiece carved out of stone. Some even climb up to the platform, which is 330 steps!!!! However, I heard that it is definitely worth it — seeing all of Strasbourg stretched out below, with the canals weaving through the city and even the Black Forest in the distance (Germany).
For me, the cathedral isn’t just a landmark, it’s like the soul of Strasbourg. It’s something you notice, follow, and admire again and again — and every time, it leaves you in awe.
I just want to take a moment to reflect on how grateful I am for the chance to go abroad. Being able to step into a completely new country, see different views, and experience cultures and traditions that aren’t my own has been one of the most eye-opening and rewarding chapters of my life. From the food that tells a story of its people, to the history written into every street and building, to the simple joy of everyday life in a new place — it’s all something I’ll carry with me forever.
Traveling and living abroad isn’t always easy, but it’s worth every second. I truly wish this kind of experience for others, because it changes you in ways you don’t expect — it makes the world feel bigger and smaller at the same time. Bigger because you see how much there is out there to learn and discover, but smaller because you realize how much we all share as humans, no matter where we come from.
I will never regret the time I had abroad. It gave me new perspectives, new memories, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of connection — across borders, languages, and cultures. My heart is so full. 💛
