The Educational Technology group offers a variety of workshops on diverse topics, consultations with individual faculty, and a range of other services and resources to serve the College.
Educational Technology offers hands-on workshops aimed at introducing faculty to different software applications and technologies that can be used to enhance their teaching and research. Faculty can view descriptions of upcoming workshops and register for workshops through our training calendar, above.
Educational Technology staff are always available for individual consultations and can be contacted directly on all aspects of the effective use of technology in teaching, learning, or research. We can also provide technology support in a classroom setting, or within lab groups and departments.
Holy Cross uses the Moodle course management system. Licensed software, such as Microsoft Office and SPSS, can be requested and installed through ITS. Remote server access to specialized software, such as Matlab, Maple, and Stata, is also available to Holy Cross faculty, staff, and students. In addition, members of the Holy Cross community have access to the full range of Google Apps.

The Multimedia Resource Center offers a number of faculty services including placing media on reserve and transferring media to digital format. Other services and facilities include a sound-reduced audio and video room, transcoding of video formats, viewing rooms that can be reserved, audiobooks, and a computer lab that can be reserved for language testing, quizzes, and use of specialty software. See MRC for Faculty for more information.
The Panopto video platform at Holy Cross allows faculty and staff to record video presentations, manage a collection of video files, and stream video content to any device. Panopto is designed to take whatever media you’d like to make available in whatever configuration best serves your needs. Educational Technology staff can help set up a Panopto block on Moodle, providing an easy method for embedding Panopto recordings directly into Moodle courses. EdTech staff can also create digital copies of traditional VHS and DVD media for uploading to Google Drive, where it may be linked to the Panopto block in your Moodle course. Contact Educational Technology staff for more information.
