Greetings! My name is TJ Tsai. I am an associate professor of engineering at Harvey Mudd College. I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at Stanford, worked for several years at SoundHound, and then completed my Ph.D. at UC Berkeley. Throughout that time, I kept up an interest in classical piano, chamber music, and jazz as a hobby. I have been on the faculty at Harvey Mudd since 2016, where I get to combine three things that I love: teaching, engineering, and music. My research explores the intersection of music, signal processing, and machine learning. Apart from my work as a faculty member, I am also a spiritual director (trained through CFDM). One of the greatest joys for me is getting to work with students and helping them flourish. I live in Upland with my wife and two kids.
