Join for our virtual hike as we dive into the topic of cycles. We take a closer look at snags, nurse logs and the life cycle of a tree. We sing the water cycle song and listen to the story, "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle.
You will also meet a surprise guest on this hike who introduces the concept of Mission Possible and how you can become an Agent of Change and reduce your carbon footprint!
Welcome to our second virtual hike! During this hike we look for evidence of birds in the forest. We talk about woodpeckers and sapsuckers. We sing the song "All the Earth's Critters" and listen to the story, "Owl Moon" by Jane Yolen. Sit back, relax and enjoy as we soar into the topic of birds.
Mission Possible: think of ways that you can Drive Less!
The focus of this hike is trees! We look closely at tree anatomy and sing one of our favorite songs, "Roots". We end the hike with the book, "The Giving Tree" by Shelverstein.
Mission Possible: think of ways you can Use Less Energy!
Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer. This hike is all about seasons! Waskowitz is located near the Snoqualmie river and rivers are a great way to notice the change in seasons. Join us as take a closer look at the river system. We sing the "Phoenix" song and end the hike with a story, "The River Song" by Steve Van Zandt.
Mission Possible: think of ways you can be Water Wise!
This hike is all about flowers! We explore common flowers found at Waskowitz and their adaptations. While hiking on the trail, we sing the "Habitat" song and end the hike with a story, "One Love" by Cedella Marley.
Mission Possible: think of ways you can Eat Less Meat!
Insects are the focus for this hike! Have you seen an ant hill? Waskowitz has several ant hills along the trail and these mounds are of particular interest to many of our students! We will sing the song "Dirt Made My Lunch" and end with the story "Lucy's Light" by Margarita del Mazo.
Mission Possible: find ways to Be Curious!
Join us for a night hike! We talk about nocturnal animals and their adaptations. We sing a Waskowitz favorite, "Nocturnal Animals" while sitting around the campfire and end the hike with the story "Salam Alaikum" by Harris J.
Mission Impossible: think about ways you can reduce your impact with the 4R's, Refuse is the 4th R!
