About Me

Hello, friends!

I am so excited you're part of our classroom family this year! This is my 13th year of teaching and my 7th year teaching 4th grade.  I'm excited to share the year with you!

I grew up in Holton, Kansas.  Growing up I lived with my dad, Gerry, and my sister and brother, Rebecca and Michael. We weren't a traditional family, but we had a lot of fun.  My dad is definitely still my best friend and we go on wild road trips every summer.

Now that I'm an adult I live in Seattle with my husband, Colby, my dog, Ellie, and my cat, Lenora.  Lenora doesn't get much air time in the classroom because she's not as fun and adorable as Ellie.  Just kidding :)

I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade over my teaching career and am REALLY loving 4th!  I got my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Wichita State University and my Masters in Education from Baker University.  I am also a National Board Certified Teacher.  In my first year of teaching, I won the Kansas State Department of Education 1st year Teacher of the Year award.  I've also won a Ducky Award from Dr. Susan Enfield.  Additionally, I've received grants for technology in the classroom from the Ellison Foundation and Century Link.  I'm passionate about teaching and will do everything I can to make sure your student has the resources they need to be successful.
