About

I’d like to introduce myself now that I have joined Puget Sound Skills Center. My name is Maura Carrillo and I have been interested in arts and animation since middle school and I joined the Digital Arts & Animation program because that interest has yet to leave me. I heard of this program from my school, and I learned it can help me prepare for college in my future career. I have the desire to learn skills like animation, becoming better at meeting deadlines, and being able to collaborate and be inspired by my peers.

My experiences in Digital Arts and Animation began when I saw animators on youtube and I wanted to try it out myself. I started watching tutorials and educational videos where I learned how different artists made all types of art and the process they used. That experience led me to do research on jobs and possible careers within those fields and how to achieve that. These experiences led me to seek additional training at Puget Sound Skills Center.

I know I still have a lot to learn, so while being at Puget Sound Skills Center, the main skills I’m focused on achieving are simple animation, getting some experience working with a group, and learning how to improve my craft. I’ve already been trying my best to achieve these things, so far in the year I’ve worked as a developer in a small group to create a short animation and made a small 3D animation by myself. I know I want to learn this because it’s something I enjoy a lot and wouldn’t mind doing for a job. Each of these skills will help me launch my career in the field of animation.
