This Week 6/7
We have begun writing and solving math story problems with unknowns. Our math story problems start with a part that goes first (typically a multiplication story) A group of objects with some items. Then there is a change. And finally now, something is different in the problem. The number increased or decreased depending on the change. We call the problem First...Then...Now. We make the story an "unknown" by replacing one of the numbers with the word "some." We are writing them to help us understand how the problems are set up.
Research Paper is Due Monday the 14th
Next Week/Future Dates
Wednesday, June 16th will be our last day of school for the 2020-21 school year. The school day for this last day will only be three hours; 1.5 hours of live, synchronous instruction on zoom with me and then 1.5 hours of asynchronous work on SeeSaw. Students will be completing a letter for next year's students and parts of a memory book.
There are materials that need to be returned to McMicken.
Whiteboard
Base-10 hands on kit
Area & perimeter kit
Fractions kit
Library books
We will have a material drop off between 2-4 p.m. on the last day of school, Wednesday June 16th. Please come to McMicken to drop off your materials, and pick up a popsicle to celebrate the end of the year. If you have any questions regarding materials, please reach out to the main office at 206-631-4300 for support.
Over the summer all students will be keeping one McMicken device to be used for summer learning opportunities.
We hope to see you soon!
