About

I’d like to introduce myself now that I have joined the Digital Art and Animation program at Puget Sound Skills Center.  My name is Devyn Carlsen and  I joined the program because I enjoy creating art and animations. I want to refine the skills I already have, prepare myself for a job that has to do with art and animation in the future, and learn skills like animation, and sound design.

My experiences in Digital Art and Animation began when I was in elementary school where I watched lots of short animations on YouTube and that inspired me to make my own short animations. Some of those shorts included a wink, walk cycles, and more. In the meantime I have always enjoyed making my own characters and stories, and I am often doodling and sketching out ideas every chance I get. As I grew older I continued to practice and refine my artistic skills, this experience led me to seek additional training at Puget Sound Skills Center.

While I have attended Puget Sound Skill Center, I have created a short loop animation, produced a short lo-fi beat with samples, worked with a small team of classmates to make a short Halloween themed animation, and more. I know I still have a lot to learn. So, while I’m at Puget Sound Skills Center, there are three skills I most want to learn over the course of the year: how to balance my time wisely with my animations, how to work together with a team of artists on one animation, and how to use different art programs. I know I want to learn these skills because it will help me prepare for college as well as a career with art in the future. Each of these skills will help me launch my career in Digital Art and Animation.
