Dear Science Hall Families,
We had our Character Strong Buddy Classes on Friday, January 30th! We celebrated the students in each grade level who demonstrated Perseverance in January, and we kicked off Honesty, the character trait we will focus on in February.
We had our Spelling Bee last month. Congratulations to our top three spellers: Troy Jasso, who took first place, Klaire Villanueva, who came in second, and Olivia Flores, who came in third. A big shout-out to all of the Spelling Bee contestants who were each the champion of their homeroom spelling bees. We are very proud of all of them! 🐝
Congratulations to the classes with the highest attendance in January! Each week, the grade level with the highest attendance will earn extra recess on Fridays. 🎉🏆
In addition, students who achieve perfect attendance for the month will receive a brag tag 🥇. The first time a student earns a brag tag, they will also receive a cable ring to attach it to their backpack and collect future tags. To keep students motivated and excited, each month will feature a new brag tag design.
Thank you, parents, for your continued support and for ensuring students are at school every day. Your partnership makes a difference! 🎉👏

The character trait for January is Honesty!
One way to think about Honesty is being truthful in what we say and do. Let’s think about that. Being truthful in what we say can mean that we tell the truth. What about being truthful in what we do? That could mean following through with things that you say you will do (like keeping a promise), or it could also mean simply being your true self.
Parents, please take some time to review the family connection.
Thank you for your partnership and for being a role model to your students! ☀️
If you have any questions about Communities In Schools and the eligibility criteria for the program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to SHES CIS Program Manager Bri Gonzalez at bgonzalez@ciscentraltexas.org
Let’s make every day count because Missing School is Missing Out!
Thank you for helping ensure your student is at school every day and arrives on time; every minute truly counts!
If your child has been absent, please make sure to send a written note or a doctor’s note explaining the reason for the absence to our Attendance Clerk, Sonia Morales. Alternatively, you may email the information to SHES.Attendance@hayscisd.net.
When submitting the note or email, please include:
Your student’s full name
The dates of the absences
The reason for the absence
Guardian's signature or name
Thank you for your support!
Please take the time to carefully read our Arrival and Dismissal Procedures. Thank you for helping us keep our students and community safe and for your continuous support!
Car Riders Front Drop-Off: Drop-off in the front begins at 7:00 AM.
Do not leave students unattended, as supervision is unavailable before this time.
Please be courteous and do not skip in the line.
For safety reasons do not drop off your kids before the crosswalk
Students should be ready to unload when it is their turn.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Car Riders Cafeteria Drop-Off: The cafeteria parking lot is designated for staff parking and buses only.
You may drop off at the cafeteria after buses leave (around 7:10 am), using the designated drop-off line. We have to unload 6 buses and we want everyone to safe.
If you are in line early, please use the roundabout that goes to the side of the cafeteria so buses are not blocked.
Please remain in your vehicle and follow staff guidance.
For safety, students should load/unload from the passenger side of the vehicle.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Car Rider Pick-Up Line Guidelines:
Parents must remain in their vehicles at all times to keep the process running smoothly and safely.
For safety, students should load from the passenger side of the vehicle.
If you need to assist your child with their seatbelt, please pull forward to the "Buckle-Up Safe Zone" to do so.
To help with the dismissal process and improve traffic flow, all cars should turn right to exit the school. Please follow the guidance of the staff on duty.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Walkers Guidelines:
"Parent pick-up" walkers are dismissed through the outside gym door. Parents will be asked to show their walker tag when picking up. Students will be sent to the front office if the parent does not have their tag.
Walkers are released after buses leave and the parking lot clears (around 3:10 p.m.)
If parent walkers are not picked up by 3:20 p.m., the students will be sent to wait with the car riders and will be dismissed at the end of the car riders' dismissal.
All walkers (parent pick-up, independent, and Dacy Ln) need a parent's consent on file to walk home. Please stop by the front office if you need your student to be a walker.
