Dear Science Hall Families,
We are excited to welcome you to our campus on Tuesday, September 15th at 5:00 pm! This will be a wonderful opportunity to visit your child’s teachers, meet our specials team, learn about the exciting things happening in classrooms, and stop by the Book Fair. We can’t wait to see you there!
We will hold Vision and Hearing Screenings on September 14th for eligible students. Texas law requires vision and hearing screenings for elementary students who are in PK, K, 1, 3, and 5, or newly enrolled in a school. Please reach out to Nurse McBeth if you have any questions.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 through October 15! To kick off our celebration, on Wednesday, September 16, students can come dressed in festive colors and clothing as we celebrate and honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of the Hispanic community! 🌎❤️💃🏽🌺
Congratulations to our 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade students for having the highest attendance during the week of August 31–September 4! We celebrated them with a movie during lunch! 🎬🎉! Each week, the grade levels with the highest attendance will earn a special reward! Who will be next? 🏆
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
Alejandra Valdez, Principal
Missy Owen, Assistant Principal
Please take the time to carefully read our Arrival and Dismissal Procedures.
Thank you for helping us keep our students and community safe and for your continuous support!
Car Riders Front Drop-Off: Drop-off in the front begins at 7:00 AM.
Do not leave students unattended, as supervision is unavailable before this time.
Please be courteous and do not skip in the line.
For safety reasons do not drop off your kids before the crosswalk
Students should be ready to unload when it is their turn.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Car Riders Cafeteria Drop-Off: The cafeteria parking lot is designated for staff parking and buses only.
You may drop off at the cafeteria after buses leave (around 7:10 am), using the designated drop-off line. We have to unload 6 buses and we want everyone to safe.
If you are in line early, please use the roundabout that goes to the side of the cafeteria so buses are not blocked.
Please remain in your vehicle and follow staff guidance.
For safety, students should load/unload from the passenger side of the vehicle.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Car Rider Pick-Up Line Guidelines:
Parents must remain in their vehicles at all times to keep the process running smoothly and safely.
For safety, students should load from the passenger side of the vehicle.
If you need to assist your child with their seatbelt, please pull forward to the "Buckle-Up Safe Zone" to do so.
To help with the dismissal process and improve traffic flow, all cars should turn right to exit the school. Please follow the guidance of the staff on duty.
Please stay off your cell phones as this can delay the line and cause a safety issue. It is also against Texas law.
Walkers Guidelines:
"Parent pick-up" walkers are dismissed through the outside gym door. Parents will be asked to show their walker tag when picking up. Students will be sent to the front office if the parent does not have their tag.
Walkers are released after buses leave and the parking lot clears (around 3:10 p.m.)
If parent walkers are not picked up by 3:20 p.m., the students will be sent to wait with the car riders and will be dismissed at the end of the car riders' dismissal.
All walkers (parent pick-up, independent, and Dacy Ln) need a parent's consent on file to walk home. Please stop by the front office if you need your student to be a walker.
Hays CISD uses the Secured Mobility Authorized Ridership Technology (SMART) tag system for all students who ride the bus to and from school.
Through a smartphone app, parents have instant and important information about their child's bus, including the bus number, a tracking feature, and the option to set up notification alerts for things like bus delays.
Should you have any questions or concerns about the SMART tag system not addressed on the website, please contact the Hays CISD Transportation Department at 512-268-8476 or via email at SmartTag@hayscisd.net

Let’s make every day count because Missing School is Missing Out!
We hold our students to high expectations! Our Suns can not be successful without your support! Please make sure your student's school attendance is a high priority for your family. Our students need to come to school to ensure access to high-quality education. When students miss school, they fall behind, and they'll need to work hard to catch up. Consider scheduling appointments after school, during holidays, or on weekends. Our staff is expected to reach out to families every day if a student is absent. Please call the front office in the morning to let them know your child will be out and send a note to our Attendance Clerk, Sonia Morales, explaining the student's absences. You can also send an email to SHES.Attendance@hayscisd.net
Thank you for your continued support!
The character trait for the month of September is Respect!
Respect is treating others the way you want to be treated. Consider others' feelings when you act.
Each morning, we recite our core values and provide examples of how to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
Thank you for your partnership and for being a role model to your students! ☀️
Devices Protection Plan
All of our students qualify for the Device Protection Plan for $10.00.
Please see the flyers for more information. You can purchase the Device Protection Plan at the following link.
Cellphones Procedures
Beginning in 2025, the state of Texas banned the student use of personal communication devices, including cell phones, earbuds, smartwatches, and other devices, during the school day.
In compliance with the law, Hays CISD enforces a bell-to-bell ban on the use of personal communication devices, prohibiting them during the instructional day. Devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight from the first bell to the final dismissal bell, including during lunch and passing periods. Please read the Hays CISD Cellphone Procedures and see the flyers below for our campus procedures in the event we confiscate a device.
We are looking for parent, community and business representatives to help serve on our Campus Leadership Team. The CLT plays an important role in making decisions about budgeting and helping to monitor the goals in the Campus Improvement Plan.
Community representatives are individuals that reside in our district, but do not have children attending our schools.
If interested in being nominated or to learn more about the role, please reach out to Principal Valdez at alejandra.valdez@hayscisd.net
Please take a moment to read the letter from Envision Payment Solutions regarding payments made by check.
