Challenge:

Create a bridge using only toothpicks and Elmer's school glue! Your bridge must meet the specifications shown below. If it does not, you will not receive credit (you will literally get a zero).

Grading:

50 points - Create a bridge meeting the specifications above using only standard round toothpicks and Elmer's school glue (not wood glue, epoxy, super glue, hot glue, or any other adhesive)

Your bridge will be disqualified and you will get a zero if you use any additional materials including paint, paper, tape, or any adhesive other than plain school glue.
Your bridge will be disqualified and you will get a zero if the bridge does not reach across the "river". The span of the river will be 30 centimeters (1 foot). Your bridge will be longer than 30 centimeters (1 foot) because the ends will have to be on the "land" on either side of the bridge.

Bridge needs to hold at least 2,500 grams (5.5 lbs)

C - Bridge can hold at least 5,000 grams (11 lbs)

C+ - Bridge can hold at least 6,000 grams (13.2 lbs)

B - Bridge can hold at least 7,000 grams (15.4 lbs)

A - Bridge can hold at least 8,000 grams (17.5 lbs)

+1 point for every 300 g above 8,500 grams (18.7 lbs)
