This program is sponsored by Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) and was formerly held at Texas State University. All participants will be required to fully participate during instruction (sing, conduct, move, answer questions, interact with others, etc.), and homework will be assigned each day. Sessions will not be recorded. 

Teachers who have previously earned their Kodály Certification are invited to observe any day of their choice (excluding the first and last days of the session) as an annual Refresher, earning Continuing Education credit at a discounted rate.

The faculty, under the study of Dr. Mícheál Houlahan and Dr. Philip Tacka, include Ms. Lauren Bain, Mr. Nick Holland-Garcia, Dr. Daniel Arredondo, Dr. Sarah Martinez, and Ms. Patty Moreno. Learn more about them here. 

Patty Moreno, Hays CISD Director of Fine Arts, is the administrator of the KCP. Nereida Romero handles KCP communications and special projects. Cynthia Santos is the administrative assistant for the Director of Fine Arts. 

Classes will be held at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center at 979 Kohler’s Crossing in Kye, Tx 78640. The KCP was formerly held at Texas State University’s School of Music but has always been sponsored by Hays CISD.

The dates for the 2027 Kodály Certification Program (KCP) are July 5-16, 2027. Classes will start early each morning and last into the evening. Each day will have a 30-45 minute lunch break. Classes will not be held on Sundays, but will be held on Saturday, July 10th. The Hays CISD Children’s Choir Camp will be held July 12-16, 2026 in conjunction with the KCP. 

There will be a choir concert on July 16th and a closing ceremony. Details will be announced later. All participants are encouraged to wear school clothes or business casual for these events.
