Beginner Dance: Course Description
Students will learn the basic elements of dance styles and acquire the wellness information and skills necessary to become healthy adults. Choreography and performance elements will be introduced and will become increasingly more important throughout the year. Students must take Beginner Dance as their first dance course in middle school regardless of previous dance experience. (Students transferring from other schools may speak witht he Director about appropriate palcements.) Students may be able to take dance as either a fine arts class or as a PE class. This course may include rehearsals outside the school day.
Intermediate & Advanced Dance: Course Descriptions
Students will expand their knowledge of elements of dance styles and acquire the wellness information and skills necessary to become healthy adults. Creating choreography and performance ability will become increasingly more independent throughout the year. Dance MS 1 is a prerequisite for this course. Students are placed into the level of dance that is appropriate based on data collection by the teacher from the previous year. Intermediate Dance will focus on refining technique and Advanced Dance will focus on expanding choreographic concepts. Students may be able to take dance as either a fine arts class or as a PE class. This course will include rehearsals outside the school day.
