GT Projects in 5th Grade

For the 2021-2022 school year, GT students met with Mrs. Fergie weekly during Flex Time. Students worked on a variety of projects during this time

Rube Goldberg Machines

After learning about force and motion, students designed and built Rube Goldberg Machines to showcase their understanding of pushes, pulls, gravity, magnetism, and friction. Students were tasked with creating a machine that used at least 10 steps to ultimately pop a balloon.

Black History Month Bottle Biographies

For Black History Month, students chose a famous African American to research. Once students completed their research, GT students created a bottle made in the likeness of the person they researched. Jackie Robinson and Mae Jameson are just a few examples class

Geometry and Food Trucks

Using their knowledge of geometry, students planned, drew out, and built parts of a city that were put together to create “Fergieville”. Students were given specific criteria and parameters they needed to stay within. This included the number and types of shapes that were to be included in their section of the city.

Some students chose to create a food truck using perimeter and area to design and build a 3-D food truck out of paper.
