Principles of Engineering & Engineering Essentials is focused on building the skills and knowledge to prepare you for later courses and careers in technology. These are the most important, in-demand jobs in the world. They also happen to be some of the most powerful, interesting, and high paying careers.

Class Dismissal
I dismiss class; the bell/clock does not.
Computer Usage
Computer use in the classroom is ONLY for assignments given by a teacher. If a student is using a computer for non-academic purposes, consequences are up to the teacher’s discretion.
Materials
You will be responsible for bringing the following materials to class everyday:
Expectations
Work hard and complete all assignments on time. Late work will be accepted for 5 days after for 70% credit.
Manage yourself and your materials.
Show respect, especially for classmates, their time, and our equipment.
Grading Policy
Projects and Tests – 60%
Engineering Notebook / Daily Grades - 40%
Any entry may be graded
Not all entries will be graded
Restroom/Hall Passes
Use the restroom between classes
Tardiness
Be on time to class everyday (In seat, working on warm-up)
Late Work
All work is expected on time in this class.
You are expected to turn in work on the given due date. If you do not have your work when you come into class, it is not complete. You are held responsible to:
Complete the assignment and submit within time frame of the late work due date
Absences/Make-Up Work
It is your responsibility to pick up and/or turn in any missed assignments due while absent from class. Check the class website for missed homework assignments. Assignments must be completed and submitted within a week and a half of returning to school from the absence.
Safety
We will be doing many projects in class, some of which will involve sharp or hot equipment that could be dangerous if not handled carefully. Specifically we will use cutting tools, hot glue guns, and dial calipers. Students will be expected to follow safe procedures. If they do not, they may be removed from the class and assigned to other electives.

Exiting the class
If a student is not interested in this material, or does not feel prepared for this challenge, please speak to me as soon as possible. The schedule change window is very short.
If a student is unable to meet the expectations of the class later in the year, they may be removed.
Donations
Throughout the year we will need assorted odds and ends to make our projects work. If you have what we need, would like to purchase equipment, or have some really interesting technology laying around please get in touch.
electronics - any toy with a motor, button, sound or light electronics with motors (DVD player, tape player).
mechanical devices - wind-up toys, toys that move, motors, pumps, pulleys, etc.
building materials - untreated wood (dowel rods, 1x4s, 2x4s, plywood), PVC
containers - smallish plastic containers that you would otherwise throw away, like lunch meat boxes.
