What is Sovereignty?

Simply put, tribal sovereignty means that decision-making power is in the hands of Native nations.


Sovereignty Matters

The evidence in favor of tribal authority is persuasive: when Native nations make their own decisions about matters as diverse as natural resource management, economic development, and social service provision they consistently outperform non-tribal decisionmakers – and often generate benefits for non-Indians.
