Understanding the Mercury Cycle in Earth History

Position Description: Mercury has increasingly been used as a fingerprint for volcanism in Earth's past, and we would like to characterize the background state of this system. This remote position will include organizing and adding to a compilation of the mercury concentration and isotope data from the geological rock record. Requirements include a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and access to a computer. There is also the option to do some data science and data visualization, with an introduction to Jupyter Notebooks and Python, depending on the student's interests.

Pay Rate: $700 stipend at completion of program
Qualifications/Requirements:
No prior knowledge of the topic is necessary
Computer and internet connection required
Project host requests that the student participate in lab group meetings and virtual lunches.
The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) welcomes everyone and aims for a diverse and inclusive community.
