Position Description:
A key to moving forward in the global energy transition is understanding current and emerging technologies and policies related to energy and the environment. College-level courses offered at Harvard and other institutions provide background in energy technologies, including fossil fuels, wind, nuclear, and solar. When possible, it is useful for students to visit energy-generation facilities to get an up-close view. When in-person visits are not possible, online “visits” provide a widely accessible alternative.
For this project, you and a partner will work on creating a virtual “field trip” to energy production facilities. The specific content and format are flexible and will depend on the interest of the students working on the project, but may include photos, audio, video, recorded interviews, diagrams, maps, etc. Students will research the specific topic(s) selected and compile the media in a user-friendly format. The final product may be used in a Harvard class and/or published online as an Earth Science education resource (for example: https://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/energy/visuals.html).

During twice-weekly meetings, Students will also be exposed to basic instructional design principles and receive basic training in video editing (Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects) as needed.
The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) welcomes everyone and aims for a diverse and inclusive community. Preferences will be given to rising sophomores and first year students, but we encourage all interested students to apply.
