Why STEAM?
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are the leading fields in the workforce for the United States and many other developing countries. The STEAM Academy’s goal here at Sweetwater Middle School is for our students to be successful in high school and reach their highest potential. We don't need every child to grow up to become a scientist, engineer, or designer, but we need everyone to grow up knowing how to think like one.
The STEAM Academy Vision
Our STEAM Academy will develop students’ creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, which are all necessary for success in today’s world. With an emphasis on post-secondary readiness, the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum will prepare our scholars for college and careers, while producing culturally literate citizens.
