You must put in effort! Money isn't given away for free! You may need to write an essay, record a video, etc. for a scholarship. Be prepared to put to better your chances.
Don't wait until the day before the deadline to submit your application. Plan ahead!
Don't just apply for the "big" scholarships. Small scholarships can add up over time!
Make sure you meet ALL the eligibility requirements listed!
Colleges offer scholarships, too! Merit scholarships are given to students who are accepted to the college and are based on student achievement reviewed at the time of application. Most colleges have deadlines for merit scholarships & amounts decrease over time, so APPLY EARLY!

Never pay to enter or to submit a scholarship application. Never buy anything to qualify.
Never give personal or financial information such as your SSN, banking information, etc.
Don't fall for "guarantee" wins or sweepstakes simply asking for your contact information only.
Avoid scholarships with poor grammar, misspellings, or unclear information.
