Parents, as you make various personal plans for your family for the next two years, we wanted to make you aware that Gwinnett County Schools has released approved calendars for the next two academic school years. You may access the links to each calendar below:
Greetings, Comet Families!
We are on the final countdown to the administration of the Georgia Milestones Assessment, which will begin on April 22, 2024. Eighth grade students will take the GMAS assessment in the following content areas: Math, ELA, Physical Science and Social Studies. Students enrolled in the Enhanced Math Algebra Concepts & Connections class will also take the Algebra End of Course (EOC) assessment, in addition to taking the regular 8th grade math test.
These next few weeks of school, from now until May, will be extremely critical, as students continue to learn essential standards and review for the Milestones assessments. We are soliciting your support in ensuring that your students are present and on time to school each day, so as not to miss pertinent learning they need to be successful on the upcoming assessments.
Students will NOT be permitted to have any electronic devices of any kind on them during the testing period. ALL electronic devices such as cell phones, Smartwatches, I-Pods, headphones, earbuds, etc., are STRICTLY prohibited in the testing environment. If students bring those items to school during testing, they will be requested to store them away in their bags, which will be placed in a location AWAY from students.
Carnegie Unit Forms - High School Credit for Algebra Concepts & Connections Class
Parents, this is a reminder that students enrolled in the Enhanced Math Algebra Concepts & Connections, will have the opportunity to earn high school Carnegie Unit credits.
If you have not already done so, please complete, sign and return the Carnegie Unit Form, which was sent home by your child's teacher.
9th Grade Promotion Requirements
As we begin the countdown to May promotion from 8th grade to 9th grade, please be reminded of the significance of having our scholars present in school each day, so that they are able to engage with their teachers and peers in the learning process. Our goal is to have 100% of our 8th grade scholars matriculate to 9th grade, as a result of their successful academic achievement in 8th grade. As a reminder, 8th graders MUST pass at least 5 of 6 classes BOTH semesters, with math and reading being two of the 6 classes, in addition to other criteria, to be promoted to the 9th grade. Click the link to see GCPS' detailed criteria for promotion to 9th grade: GCPS Middle School Promotion Requirements
