What is GSLT?

About

The Gwinnett Student Leadership Team (GSLT) is a two-and-a-half-year leadership development program for sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Gwinnett County Public Schools and Buford City Schools. Sponsored by GCPS and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce in partnership with local businesses and organizations, GSLT is designed to cultivate strong, service-minded leaders while deepening students’ civic engagement and community awareness.

Sophomores begin their journey with two one-day symposiums focused on leadership foundations, professional etiquette, and individualized leadership assessments. As juniors, students participate in five additional one-day symposiums that explore personal leadership development, team-based leadership, organizational culture, and strategic goal-setting. During their senior year, participants continue refining their leadership skills while mentoring younger cohorts, facilitating initiatives within their schools, and applying their learning in real-world community settings.

Throughout the program, students engage in networking, collaboration, reflective learning, case studies, and problem-solving experiences. GSLT participants are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to growth, leadership, and service to both their schools and the greater Gwinnett community.

Key Components

25 schools including all public high schools in Gwinnett County Public Schools and Buford City Schools
GSLT follows a cohort model, with three sophomores selected annually in January to join each new class.
