DUAL ENROLLMENT REGISTRATION AT DHS IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2024/2025 School Year
Dual Enrollment (DE) is a dual-credit program that allows high school students in grades 10-12 the option of pursuing college credit through approved colleges and universities-- either as a full or part-time college student. Students who successfully complete an approved academic course from the state’s DE course list earn both high school and college credits. Students must apply and be accepted to a participating eligible postsecondary institution. College approved courses taken must count toward high school graduation requirements. Important Things to Note
Grading
Colleges usually provide letter grades. The high school will transcribe the letter grade to the midpoint of the HS grading scale.
A = 95
B = 85
C = 75
D = 72
F = 55
All DE classes are included on the high school transcript.
Failure in a college class, may jeopardize one’s high school graduation!
Withdrawal from a course may result in an F on the high school transcript.
No points are added to the final grade.
DE grades will stay on a student's college transcript.
Class Requirement
Students can either be considered a part-time dual enrollment student meaning they take some classes at Duluth High School and some through a college or full-time dual enrollment meaning all classes are taken at the college. All students must follow this process regarding class registration:
Part-Time Dual Enrollment
1 Dual Enrollment course | 5 DHS classes
2 Dual Enrollment courses | 4 DHS classes
3 Dual Enrollment courses | 3 DHS classes
Full Time Dual Enrollment
4 Dual Enrollment | 0 DHS
You cannot take more than 4 dual enrollment classes in a semester
College Credit Hour Conversion
1 - 2 college credit hour(s) = .50 HS credit.
Science labs will not receive HS credit
3 - 5 college credit hours = 1.0 HS credit.
Students who complete their high school graduation credit requirements early will no longer be eligible to participate in dual enrollment…they will be high school graduates!
Dual Enrollment Funding
The program pays for college tuition, books, and mandatory fees.
Credit hours paid by DE do not count toward the limit of hours paid for by the HOPE Scholarship or HOPE Grant programs.
