Uniforms

All runners must wear uniforms in meets -- GSHA guidelines do not allow runners to wear any non-uniform shirts or shorts, except for matching compression shorts, tights, or long sleeve compression shirt below the uniform.

We have a new uniform, so even if you purchased one last year you need to get a new one!

The deadline is 12/18 for uniform purchase!! Please do it ASAP!

This allows us to get them in time even with supply chain issues.

All athletes (except for this year's XC): The uniform package includes the following:

  • Uniform (white top, green bottoms) in either distance, throw, or sprint styles. This is REQUIRED for all athletes unless they ran distance in cross country this year or last year or bought a distance uniform last year -- the distance uniform has not changed from last year. If you are not sure, please look at the store carefully and ask the coaches. If you bring your uniform to us we can tell you for sure.

  • Warmup Suit -- we are a team and we will look like one this year!

If you ran XC:

  • Warmup Suit only; there is a separate package available with just that.

In addition, the store includes other options:

  • Dues ($300) can be paid on this site through January -- all dues must be paid before our time trials meet unless other accommodations have been worked out with the board.

  • Spirit wear will be open through January -- if it is purchased before the uniform deadline you will get it with your uniforms, but any purchased after that will be delivered in early February.

  • Additional uniforms -- if you would like a backup.

Shoes

Spikes are REQUIRED for meets for all runners, and running shoes and spikes should both be brought to practice. We will not allow you to run, throw, or jump in shoes that will hurt you long term -- make sure you are not wearing basketball shoes or any non-running shoe!

Both running shoes and spikes can be purchased at any running store..please go get fitted for the right shoes rather than buying the ones that are the cheapest or that look cool. Nothing is more important to your long term health than the right shoes. If you are struggling with cost, consider the cost of the physical therapy that will be required if you get injured! If you need help, please talk with us. Brand is not important, but there are some to avoid -- Nike in particular is great for spikes but usually is not good for running shoes unless you have the perfect foot structure for them.

We partner with Big Peach Running in Suwanee Town Center -- mention that you run track & field with Collins Hill and you will be given a discount on your running purchase. Please make sure they know what you run -- if you are planning to run mid-distance or longer you will need different spikes than if you are planning to run sprints.

Practices

You need to dress for the weather -- bring layers as many of our practices will be in cold weather months! As long as it is safe, we will practice in the cold. If it is not, we will still practice indoors -- don't assume practice is canceled unless we send out a message on Rank One letting you know that.

There is not a required practice clothing, but you should be able to move and should be able to remove layers if you get hot. Georgia weather is unpreditable and you don't want your clothing to get in the way of your improvement.
