Mr. Ryan Bertram is in his 17th year of teaching music, all of which have been in the Duluth Cluster. Mr. Bertram graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of Georgia where he studied saxophone under the tutelage of Dr. Kenneth Fischer. He acquired his Master of Music Education through Boston University. Mr. Bertram began his teaching career as a band director at Duluth Middle School in 2009 and then transferred to Coleman Middle School when the school split in 2016. He began both the band and music technology programs at CMS. DMS and CMS bands have consistently received Superior ratings at the annual GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation under the direction of Mr. Bertram. Students from both bands have annually been selected for District and All-State Honor Bands. When he is not teaching or making music, Mr. Bertram enjoys spending time outdoors with his family riding bikes, hiking, and camping.
