Educational Tips For Parents - Open up communication with your teen

When your teen was young, you may have wished for quiet. Now, you probably wish your student would open up a little more. So get the ball rolling. If you start a story with "Listen to what happened to me today," your teen may respond with something that happened at school. Teens often worry

that their families will be shocked by what they have to say, so react calmly, even when you disagree. "Tell me why you think that" works better than "That's ridiculous." Click here for more Parent Tips

Access Testing

Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for English Language Learners (ELL) language proficiency test. Teachers in our school use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for your child. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress your child makes toward English proficiency. Makeup testing will continue until all students have tested. Please contact Dr. Nia Vaughn if you have questions about the ACCESS for ELLs test.

Mark your calendars for a parent workshop to learn what ACCESS Testing is about.

  • Monday, February 13: In-Person

  • Wednesday, February 15: Virtual
