Grade-Level Office / Grade-Level Clerk: (e.g., 7th Grade Office: 770-554-7771)
School Counseling Department: Call the main office and request the grade-level counselor.
Parents and Guardians,
Please ensure that your student’s contact information remains up to date. If you need to make any changes or updates to your student’s contact sheet—including phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, or home address—all updates must be completed directly through ParentVUE.
To update your information:
Log in to your ParentVUE account.
Navigate to the Change My Information tab (or Student Information section).
Update the necessary fields and submit your changes.
Keeping this information current is vital for ensuring we can reach you quickly regarding school updates and emergencies. If you need assistance accessing your ParentVUE account, please contact the main office.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Welcome Back to GMSM!
Welcome back to a new school year! My name is Dr. Angela Broughton, and I am honored to serve as the 7th-grade Assistant Principal. With over 30 years of experience in education, I am excited to continue working alongside our students, staff, and families at GMSM.
I have served students and educators in Georgia, Florida, and international settings, and these experiences have taught me that when families, staff, and students work together—with high expectations and strong support—every child can succeed.
As we begin the school year, I am dedicated to building strong partnerships with families and staff to foster a positive, safe, and engaging environment that helps every student thrive. Let’s work together for a successful and fulfilling school year!

Week 3 (Aug. 14-17)
As we continue our unit on Personal Finance and Money Management, next week students will dive into the following skills:
Building Credit Wisely: Understanding how credit works and the importance of responsible borrowing.
Saving for the Future: Learning strategies to set aside money and grow long-term savings.
Exploring Entrepreneurship: Discovering what it takes to start a business and solve real-world problems.
We are having a fantastic start to the school year and love seeing our 7th graders engage with these important real-world life skills!
Math Spotlight: Real-World Rational Numbers
Our 7th graders are off to a fantastic start! We are so impressed with their energy and focus during our first week.
This week, we are taking our work with rational numbers to the next level by applying addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to real-life scenarios—think tracking bank account balances, temperature shifts, and elevation changes.
⚠️ Important Supply Reminder: Students need a Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS Scientific Calculator in class as soon as possible. We will be using these daily, so please make sure your student has one in their backpack this week!
Science Spotlight!
Next week in Science (August 17th–21st), students will dive deeper into learning how to determine whether a specimen is living or nonliving. They will focus on constructing scientific arguments using evidence to support that cells exhibit the characteristics of life. A major highlight of the week will be exploring the question of whether or not viruses are considered living things. Students will read related articles and practice writing a Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) argument to explain which characteristics of life a virus exhibits without a host cell. Please note that on Monday, the 17th, the kids will be taking iReady Math for part of the day. To ensure they are ready, please remind your student to bring their laptop and charger to school. Additionally, they will need to bring PLUG-IN headphones if they have them!
