Simulation of the Transient Conduction Using Ansys Fluent
Simulate 2D transient conduction in a metallic plate using ANSYS Fluent software.
Define and implement mixed boundary conditions, including convection and constant temperature.
Display the temperature distribution plots and contours as a function of time.
Create an animation of the temperature distribution over time using CFD-Post.
Consider a 2D metal plate with constant material properties: thermal conductivity (k) of 1 W/m.K, specific heat capacity (Cp) of 960 J/kg.K, and density (𝝆) of 2645 kg/m3. The plate has dimensions of 0.05 m x 0.08 m. The top surface of the plate is exposed to convection with a heat transfer coefficient (h) of 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝑾/𝒎^𝟐 𝑲 and a surrounding temperature (𝑻0) of 20 °C. The other surfaces of the plate are maintained at a constant temperature of 50 °C, as illustrated in the figure. At t = 0 s, the initial temperature of the plate is 50 °C.
Using Ansys Fluent, simulate the transient heat conduction in the plate and plot an animation of the temperature distribution over time. Specifically, plot the animation at 1 minute and 10 minutes.
