TEXTBOOKS AND ACCESS CODES
Modern Languages Textbooks & ACCESS CODES
Modern Languages courses are designed so that a student should only take one Modern Language course per semester.
All introductory level courses are 5 credit-hours each.
This is an estimated one third of your semester course load.
Work is estimated to require between 13 to 17 hours per week to complete activities in the target language.
For Modern Languages courses, students are required to purchase access codes. (Paper texts or Loose Leaf versions are optional).
The access code provides access to the virtual text, student activities, tests, quizzes and chat tools as well as other listening and speaking resource and grammatical exercises and overviews.
50% of your final grade is based on the work completed using the access code, including your tests.
Students can verify the correct ISBN for the required code on the college bookstore website linked here: FIND TEXTBOOKS
Students can verify the correct ISBN in their course syllabus and on the homepage in their CANVAS course.
Students can PURCHASE access via VHL Central linked in the left-hand navigation bar in their CANVAS course and linked here: VHL CENTRAL
It is recommended that the students purchase access to their course from the publisher because it offers the cheapest price.
The correct edition may not be available on third party vendor sites like Amazon or Chegg.
The bookstore options are codes plus paper texts, which are not required.
The access codes come in two types:
18, 24 or 36 months
6 months
Should you drop, withdraw, or not earn a satisfactory grade, you may have up to 24 months access to the code.
Follow the video instructions to get temporary access to your VHL Supersite.
You may also request a grace period from your instructor should you not be able to purchase you code immediately.
