Planning
Unit plan is when you plan a whole bunch of different lessons for one topic. when we did our unit plan, we picked a topic and created a lesson to do each day within a lesson. This planning unit is helpful for when teachers are planning different lessons for the same topic, because they can relate back to the different lessons if they have taught it already or if they are going to be talking about it in the future. this was very helpful for me because it gave me an idea of what a unit plan should look like and how to incorporate lessons within a unit plan. it also helped with how to think of different lesson that relate to one another.
For this lesson plan, we did direct instruction. we took a lesson from the unit plan and went more in-depth with the lesson. When I do direct instruction in my class it going to be teaching a new topic to the class, or new vocabulary. This is very effective because it's the students learning and the teachers teaching because it's more teacher-based.
This is a BDA lesson plan. for this lesson plan, we found a book that delt with one of the focus content areas. this kind of lesson plan can help student think about what the book is going to be about. having stopping points during the book to talk about what has happen so far in the book. then after reading the book talking about what the book was about and the feeling that they had while reading to the book. this is very effective because it allows students to really think about what is happening in the book before, during, and after reading.
For the Gradual Release lesson, is more focused on I do, we do, they do. For this lesson plan we did primary sources and the 5Ws. So, I did one primary source, then we did one together, and then they did one by themselves. this is very effective because students have to watch in-order to know what to do when we do it together and by themselves. this helps students gain knowledge about what to do Before, during, and after reading.
This lesson plan is a 5E lesson plan and then a C3 framework. this lesson plan is very open for students, this lesson plan allows students to really explore the topic that they are focused on. the C3s allows students to open up their mind and to explore the different topics within the C3 framework (college, career, and civic). I would this kind of lesson plan after students know the topic a little and let them do their own thing.
