Our reading period is officially open for the 25th issue of Flint Hills Review!
We read annually from November 1 - March 31. Submissions recieved outside of that time will still be logged, and will be read during our next reading period.
FHR does accept simultaneous submissions; however as a courtesy, please notify us at once if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Include a short, 3rd-person bio (approx. 75-100 words) with all submissions.
You may submit work of more than one type, for example several poems and a flash fiction piece, but please follow the guidelines for each genre below:
Send no more than six poems
- Short Stories
Send no more than three flash fiction stories (1-3 pages), or one short story (7-25 pages).
- Short Plays
Send one play ten minutes in length or shorter
- Creative Nonfiction
We accept both flash essays (1-3 pages) and traditional length essays (5-25 pages). Please send only one essay.
- Artwork & Photos
Send 1-10 works. Please note: only cover images will be printed in color. Internal images will be printed in greyscale on normal, matte, made-for-print paper.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Send electronic submissions as attachments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Poetry and prose submissions should be in .doc or .docx format.
- Attach art and photos as individual .pdf or .jpg files. High resolution images (300 dpi) are preferred.
