I am currently enrolled in Emporia State University, and I am a senior. I am currently student teaching in Kindergarten at Maize South Elementary School. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have always loved teaching students new skills. I had so many elementary school teachers that inspired me to be the best I can be, so I aspire to be like them and inspire future students to be the best they can be. I am so excited to be one step closer to being a teacher inside a classroom. I grew up in Wichita, KS, and I went to the Maize schools. I graduated from Maize South High School in 2019. Then, I immediately started taking Summer classes at Butler Community College, so I could transfer to Emporia State in the Fall of 2020. Family is a huge part of my life. I have one younger sister, and we are super close. Throughout our childhood, we loved to practice ballet and watch Disney movies. My sister and I were able to perform in Ballet Wichita’s The Nutcracker for three years, and my years of performing in dance recitals and ballets fostered my love for the performing arts. As a family, my parents, sister, and I love to watch Disney movies. Disney has always been something that brings us closer together, and we can always have a good time when Disney is involved. Another hobby I enjoy doing is reading. I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. My hope as a future teacher is to instill a love of reading in my students that they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Philosophy
In my classroom, I believe that students learn best when they are supported by the teacher and classmates. I also believe that students will learn when they try. As a teacher, it is my job to encourage and support my students, so that they feel comfortable to try. It is okay for my students to make mistakes because that is where learning occurs. I will provide engaging and beneficial lessons that encourage students to take risks and try. I encourage students to fill each other’s bucket’s up and build meaningful connections. This classroom is a team, and we support each other through the good and bad times. Each day is a new day, so every student, teacher, para, administrator, or faculty member that walks into the classroom has a clean state. As the teacher, I will work to foster a positive classroom community where all students feel safe, supported, and encouraged.
