The city we live in - the cultural heritage of our hometowns

Die Stadt, in der wir leben – das kulturelle Erbe unserer Heimatorte

The project entitled "The city we live in - the cultural heritage of our hometowns" - will be carried out in four different countries in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.

It is aimed primarily at pupils with a migrant background who are present in schools in the four countries. If pupils in schools are asked where they come from, they often answer with the country of origin of their parents, although in most cases they were born and grew up in their own country. The aim is to strengthen the feeling of home/belonging to one's current place of residence and for the pupils to get to know and appreciate the richness of diversity in each city. Each of the participating cities has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. Pupils should be able to associate the concept of "home" with their place of residence and identify with it.

Pupils from socially disadvantaged families often do not feel that they belong to their city of birth because they cannot participate in cultural life due to lack of money or education. We also want to change that with this project.

Therefore, the target group of the project are pupils coming from low-income families (often with a migrant background) who do not have the opportunity to participate in the cultural lilifefe of their hometown and who cannot afford to send their children on trips or to attend the cultural events that will take place in the course of this project. Furthermore, thanks to the mobilities offered and the workshops that will take place, the students will be able to actively use another foreign language in addition to English. It would be beneficial if the students could exchange ideas at the project meetings and keep in touch with each other in order to be able to help each other later on if they are interested in a long-term exchange abroad. Each of the participating schools has chosen a theme in line with the title of the project that we will be working on over the 36 months.
