What are we going to do in Partille Gymnasium?
Following the programme of our week visit to Partille Gymnasium, in Partille, Sweden, we are mainly going to meet teachers, see lessons and project development as well as participate in workshops and meetings.
We will be able to talk and share teaching experiences with our colleagues in this school, language teachers, and members of the Erasmus school team and Erasmus project coordinators.
In addition, we could also meet swedish students before, during and after lessons and at school.
We are sure all sessions will be enriched by the wonderful hospitality and welcome of the Erasmus school team and the teachers who will generously welcome us in their classrooms. We feel very lucky and thankful.
In short, we expect to enjoy getting to know their school and their way of working.
The school
Partille Gymnasium is a school in central Partille. It put knowledge, good relationships and a strong connection to business and sports associations at the centre.
The teaching staff is made up of 52 people and the number of students is 450. Lessons begin at 8:00 and finish at 16:00, except for the students in programs with a sport profile who begin at 10:00 on monday, tuesday and friday, because these days they have training at 8:00.
Erasmus+ school
It is an accredited Erasmus+ school. This means that it will be able to offer APL abroad for vocational students, study trips and exchanges on all our programs as well as continuing education and study trips for staff during the program period 2021-2027.
Student health
Student health consists of the principal, school counselor, school nurse, study guidance counselor, special education teacher and school psychologist.
Student health meets every week and follows up the work with each student's health in order to be able to take measures as quickly as possible. The group also works continuously with promotion efforts for good student health at the school.
Our equal treatment work
At Partille Gymnasium, they work to ensure that the school is a safe and trusting workplace for both students and staff. We carry out systematic work to counteract all forms of bullying, discrimination and abusive treatment.
School library
The library in Partille, located in the Partille Kulturum, is also their school library. There there are reading areas, computers, newspapers, music, films, non-fiction and novels.
Programs
They offer six different national high school programs, as well as introductory programs. Most programs can also be read as nationally approved sports education (NIU) or with a sports profile.
School restaurant
Right next to Partille Gymnasium is the restaurant Forellen. There, in a pleasant environment with a nice view of Säveån, school lunch is served every day.
At Forellen there are always several different options on the menu. Every day there is also a large and varied salad buffet. Of course, a vegetarian and vegan option is also offered every day.
Sports at Partille Gymnasium
At Partille Gymnasium, you can apply for nationally approved sports training in handball, bowling and football. You can also choose to study our high school programs with a sports profile.
Gastronomy
Swedish cuisine could be described as centered around cultured dairy products, crisp and soft (often sugared) breads, berries and stone fruits, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, eggs, and seafood. Potatoes are often served as a side dish, often boiled. Swedish cuisine has a wide variety of breads of different shapes and sizes, made of rye, wheat, oat, white, dark, sourdough, and whole grain, and including flatbreads and crispbreads. There are many sweetened bread types and some use spices. Many meat dishes, especially meatballs, are served with lingonberry jam. Fruit soups with high viscosity, like rose hip soup and blueberry soup (blåbärssoppa) served hot or cold, are typical of Swedish cuisine. Butter and margarine are the primary fat sources, although olive oil is becoming more popular. Sweden's pastry tradition features a variety of yeast buns, cookies, biscuits and cakes; many of them are in a very sugary style and often eaten with coffee (fika).
The cities
Partille: Partille Municipality (Partille kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in Partille, which constitutes a part of the contiguously built-up Gothenburg urban area.
The municipality is by area one of the smallest in Sweden with only 59.35 km².
The parish Partille was made a rural municipality, when the first local government acts came into force in 1863. Territorially it has not been affected by the nationwide municipal reforms carried out during the 20th century. It has retained its area, but it has developed into a suburb of Gothenburg.
Gothenburg: is the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. It is situated by the Kattegat, on the west coast of Sweden, and has a population of approximately 590,000 in the city proper and about 1.1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area.
Gothenburg is home to many students, as the city includes the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
Gothenburg has ranked as the world’s most sustainable destination six times in a row, according to the Global Destination Sustainability Index. And in 2021, Lonely Planet named Gothenburg the world’s Best sustainable city stay.
In Gothenburg, nature is all around you – be it in the brisk ocean air or in the aforementioned Slottsskogen park, a sprawling haven of cultivated parklands, natural forest and a zoo – open all year round. Another garden that hosts a variety of events and activities year-round is the Gothenburg Botanical Garden (Botaniska Trädgården).
Walkers and hiking enthusiasts are well catered for here – Gothenburg is the starting point for Sweden’s popular Gotaleden trail. Set off from the tourist centre on Kungsportsplatsen and walk the easy 6-kilometre-long trail from Gothenburg to Skatås, via the Delsjön nature reserve. Another popular Gothenburg trail is the Göta River pilgrimage (Pilgrimsleden Göta älv) – the first three stages are in town, from Masthugg Church to Jennylund.
