The Molecular Ethology Group explores the genetic and molecular basis of animal behavior. Specifically, we study the mechanisms of chemotaxis in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans using multiple approaches. These include identifying and characterizing genes necessary for nervous system function, analyzing the association between neuronal activity and behavior, and developing a new approach to unveil previously uncharacterized behaviors.
