We are one of the most active group in mid-infrared astronomical instrumentation. We are developing a new mid-infrared instrument for the TAO telescope, as well as promotions of new optical/mechanical devices for future mid-infrared astronomy.
MIMIZUKU is a mid-infrared instrument for the TAO 6.5m telescope. It covers a wide wavelength coverage of 2-38 micron, and achieves diffraction limited spatial resolution in wavelengths longer than 8 micron. The spatial resolution at 30 micron is 1.2 arcsec, which is the world best spatial resolution in this wavelength region. MIMIZUKU also equips a new opto-mechanical device Field Stacker. It enables us to carry out precise monitoring observation.
MIMIZUKU have achieved the first light on SUBARU in 2018. It will be mounted on the TAO telescope and start scientific operation around 2022.
Details of MIMIZUKU can be seen here
We are developing new optical and mechanical devices for future mid-infrared projects such as TMT/MICHI and SPICA.
