The 89th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Health and Human Ecology
Date: October 12 (Sat)-13 (Sun), 2024
Venue: Hongo Campus, The University of Tokyo
General Information
- The Future of Health in Human Society -
Greetings from the Chairperson
The Department of Human Ecology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo will host the 89th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Health and Human Ecology on 12-13 October, 2024. Humans in modern society experience many "problems" that stem from the affluence we have enjoyed since the Industrial Revolution. There is widespread anxiety about whether the current social security and medical systems will be sustainable in the future, and whether humans can survive on a planet plagued by environmental problems. We do not yet have a clear vision of the extravagant but fundamental question of how we should use our overly advanced technology. With this in mind, we have chosen "The Future of Health in Human Society" as the main theme of the Annual Meeting. In the plenary session, Professor Hideki Hashimoto of The University of Tokyo will give the keynote speech on the first day. He will discuss whether the two goals of social health and individual health, which tend to conflict with each other, can be reconciled. On the second day, three professors will speak on a joint project with the Collaborative Research Organization for the Digital Spatial Society, The University of Tokyo, titled "Human Beings in the Digital Society. " This will be a good opportunity to study cutting edge health research in the field of engineering and information science. We hope that the latest research results will be reported in the general presentations as well, leading to a fruitful annual meeting.
