The Graduate School of Information Science and Technology is pleased to partner with the UTokyo Alumni Network to host a special event, Building the Future: Student-Alumni Network, designed to strengthen connections between students and alumni and support future career development.
In this event, the Graduate School of IST and UTokyo Alumni Network join forces to provide a unique opportunity for students to gain insights from alumni with rich experience in the field of information science and technology. Alumni will share their career journeys and valuable advice, creating a space for students to explore diverse career paths and build a forward-looking network.
This event is tailored for graduate students interested in building their careers within Japan, particularly those who want to engage with technology, alumni connections, and career development in the information science field. Attendees will have the chance to connect with individuals from various backgrounds through English and Japanese speaker sessions, followed by a networking session with snacks and drinks.
This event will feature two main sessions:

Networking with alumni
Each session will be conducted in both Japanese and English.

Lecture Title: "From Tetsuryokukai to CyberAgent, and the Journey to Entrepreneurship"
Self-Introduction:
After completing a master's program at the University of Tokyo in 2014, I joined CyberAgent, Inc. Assigned to a subsidiary in my first year, I contributed to its rapid growth as an executive officer. With strengths in mathematics, technology, marketing, and business management, I have taken on roles as a business director, co-founder of subsidiaries, and CFO. In 2022, I founded PlusSwitch Inc., guided by the vision of "Expanding the Circle of Well-Being." The company focuses on digital marketing and has achieved profitable growth from its early days.
Hiroyuki Nannba

Current Position: Researcher, Hitachi Ltd.

Self-Introduction:
I am both a "corporate employee" and an "independent entrepreneur." As a corporate employee, I am engaged in research and development related to artificial intelligence at Hitachi Ltd. As an independent entrepreneur, I manage the website "Beautiful Stories of High School Mathematics" and am involved in publishing and delivering lectures.

Lecture Title: "A Career of Taking on Challenges"
Self-Introduction:
After completing a Master's degree in Mathematical Informatics, I joined NTT West in 2013 with the aim of addressing societal challenges through technology. I have gained diverse experience across roles such as network engineer and business planner. In 2022, I earned an MBA from the University of Cambridge in the UK. During my time in the UK, I acquired expertise in AI technologies alongside my business studies. Currently, I leverage AI to deliver innovative solutions for clients while contributing to the formulation of technical strategies and nurturing the next generation of engineers.

Current Position: COO (Chief Operating Officer), Metagen Therapeutics, Inc.
Lecture Title: "Advancing Scientific and Technological Innovation to the World"
Self-Introduction:
I serve as the COO of Metagen Therapeutics, Inc., where we focus on developing pharmaceuticals leveraging gut microbiota. As the first employee to join the company, I have been instrumental in shaping strategies, advancing research and business development, and driving organizational growth. Previously, I worked at Nikon Corporation in roles ranging from design and development to foundational research at a joint venture and corporate planning and management at the central research laboratory. I also completed a Master’s in Management of Technology (MOT) as a working professional at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Lecture Title: "Advancing the World Through Science and Finance: A Deep-Tech Startup"
Self-Introduction:
In 2014, I co-founded Elephantech Inc. (formerly known as AgIC Inc.) and assumed the role of CEO and Representative Director. Elephantech is dedicated to reinventing electronic circuit manufacturing through sustainable means. By leveraging proprietary metal printing technology, the company became the first in the world to successfully mass-produce circuits using a process that reduces CO2 emissions by 75% and water consumption by 95%.
Yuto Takei
Specialization: Computer Science, Master's Degree, Graduated in 2013
Industry: Finance
Current Position: Security Engineer, Mercari, Inc.
Lecture Title: "Pursuing a Doctorate as a Full-Time Engineer"
Self-Introduction:
After completing a Master's degree in Computer Science, I participated in Japan's prestigious MITOU Program by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry / IPA, taking on challenges in founding multiple startups. Subsequently, I worked as a software engineer in the financial sector for several years after being scouted. Driven by entrepreneurial ambition, I launched another startup, which was later acquired, leading to my current position at Mercari. Since joining, I have dedicated myself to the security department of a subsidiary. Alongside my work, I actively pursue a Ph.D. as a working professional, leveraging my expertise to contribute both to industry and academia.
