I grew up in Austin, TX and moved to OKC, OK for college. After college, we settled in the DFW metroplex and moved to Denton 9 years ago. This is my 14th year teaching elementary music, and 3rd year at Sam Houston. 

While I grew up in a musical home, I did not fall in love with music until I was a member of the Texas All-State Choir at age 17. The musical experience I had as a member of that ensemble is the reason I'm a music teacher today. I have 2 Bachelor's degrees; music education & vocal performance from Southern Nazarene University. I also have a Master's degree in music education from UNT. 

I'm married to my husband Joel and we have 3 boys. In my free time (what's that??) I love caring for my dozens of indoor plants, reading mystery novels and going on walks. I enjoy eating out with my family and traveling.
