Dear Mustang Families,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful break from school and is excited to finish out 2024 making memories and celebrating with family and friends. Many students have had changes in their daily medications or new medications prescribed that they need to take while at school, so I wanted to remind everyone of the district medication policy that we adhere to at Shultz. I have included a copy of that policy to the right of this text. This information can also be found at Medication Permission Form on the Denton ISD website.
Students at the primary, or elementary school, level are not permitted to bring, keep or carry their own medications at school. This includes Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications, such as cough drops. For both prescribed and OTC medication use at school, the parent must fill out a medication permission form for school nurse administration and the student's physician must send written permission for medication to be given at school. Please do not send your student to school with their medications to turn into the nurse themselves, whether they are prescribed or OTC, this is against our district policy. A parent or guardian must check any new or refills of medication in with the nurse during school hours. This is for the safety of all of our students.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or information you may need in the coming weeks and months ahead.
Happy Holidays and remember to take some time to rest, you deserve it!
Warm Regards,
Lauren Garner, RN, BSN

SPONSOR A TEACHER
Did you know that one PTA membership is one voice added to thousands of other voices across the state of Texas to advocate for our students and schools? Each time a member joins our Shultz PTA it also enables us to support teachers and provide events, activities, and materials to enrich our campus community.
We know everyone doesn't have time to devote hours behind the scenes but maybe you've got an extra $10 to help advocate and support our school?
Our Nette Shultz community has a long history of generosity to our teacher and neighbors through PTA sponsorship. Our goal is for each teacher and staff member to be sponsored but we also don't want the cost of membership to prohibit anyone from joining PTA. Maybe you've already joined but you could sponsor someone else? This is a simple way to add to our collective voice and expand our impact. Every voice matters!

Early Release Student Engagement
Dear Families,
Denton ISD will provide engagement for students on the upcoming TWO early release days, December 19tjh and 20th, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm for elementary children. The Extended School Day program will coordinate with each campus to provide engaging activities for students while teachers are participating in Professional Learning Communities. In addition, Denton ISD transportation will be provided at both the early release time (12:00pm) and the regular release time (3:00 pm) for all eligible elementary bus students. If you indicate on the form that your child will ride the bus, please notify the ESD office 24 hours prior to the Early Release Day if there has been a change in pick up plan.
Parents must sign up each month to participate. If your student currently attends ESD, you do not need to sign up. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Extended School Day office at 940-369-0080. Participation in this opportunity will require completion of the form below. All forms must be submitted no later than midnight on Friday, December 13th, 2024 to participate.
