All About Me

I am married and have three adult sons.  We are blessed to have seven grandchildren that are the light of our world.  With the addition of them, there is never a dull moment at our house.  We enjoy riding bikes and spending time near water, whether that be a pool, lake, or ocean.

I have been in education for over 20 years.  Years ago, I ran a privately owned preschool during a time when my own children were young.  Those were precious years for sure!  I spent eight years teaching 5th grade ELAR/SS at a local North Texas school. This is my forth year as a Dyslexia Therapist.

I have attended several area colleges over the years to acquire my educational degrees.  I began my educational journey at NCTC in Corinth where I was inspired to learn and grow, setting high goals for myself.  Then, I transferred to TWU to complete my bachelor's degree.  There I continued to be exposed to inspirational educators that pushed me to do great things.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and went on to earn my Masters in Education as a Reading Specialist.

I completed my specialized dyslexia training courses through LEAD in Dallas, Texas.  LEAD's mission is to train teachers to provide remediation for children/adults who have been identified with dyslexia or a related disorder.  Through this training, I was provided a research-based approach to teaching literacy skills and specialized instructional methods for phonological awareness, alphabetic principles, reading, decoding, fluency, reading comprehension, cursive handwriting, spelling, grammar, oral expression, and written expression.  I am completed my certification exam, earning my CALT certification (Certified Academic Language Therapist).  What is a CALT?
