Welcome to the 2025-26 School Year!
Q: What is the time commitment in 5th Grade Orchestra?
A: Class takes place twice weekly during Specials time (within the school day). We ask that students practice at least 3x a week for 10-15 minutes each day. There are a few concerts in the evenings, but most of the learning takes place right during the school day!
Q: Is it before or after school?
A: No! We have class during the school day, so no extra arrangements are needed.
Q: What supplies does my child need to be in Orchestra?
A: They will need an instrument, a shoulder rest (for violins and violas), a rock stop (for cellos), the Essential Elements for Strings Volume 1 (choose the appropriate one for your child's selected instrument), a pencil, and rosin.
Q: Will they take their instruments home every day?
A: They can take their instruments home anytime they like! Some students prefer to bring them back and forth on Orchestra days, and others prefer to bring them on the first Orchestra day of the week and leave them until the last class day of the week (taking it home on the weekends). Whatever you do, make sure you have them on Orchestra days!
