Welcome! Because this was the first day of school, we did a lot of activities related to expectations for the class and setting up the materials needed for the school year. If you were absent, make you complete the following:

  • Download the flipgrid app and create a short introduction video
  • Find your class period's code and sign up on Google Classroom.
      • Complete the first assignment on Google Classroom titled "Welcome to English II!"
  • Find your class period's code and sign up for Remind
  • Send me an email saying "hi," or complete the Book Spine Poetry activity.
  • Make sure you have a three-subject spiral notebook. Label the first section "Reading," the second section "Writing," and the third section "Vocabulary."
      • In the "Writing" section, complete the Quick Write activity on slides 10-11.

Independent Reading Note card: SeptemberThis is to be done with the book you plan on reading for the month of September as part of your independent reading grade. On a standard index card, write the following:
1. Your name
2. The title and author of your book
3. The total # of pages in your book, divided by 4 (this is how many pages you need to read per week in order to finish your book in 1 month)
4. How many pages of your book you can read in 10 minutes, multiplied by 6 (this is your reading rate, or how many pages you can approximately read in 1 hour)
5. An individual reading goal. See slide 8 for some examples.
