Band 1 (Music 1) is a full year course for students who are beginning to learn how to play a band instrument: flute, clarinet, and saxophone. (I teach the woodwinds.) This course develops music performance skills, music literacy, critical evaluation, and response to music. All students will be required to perform in public concerts. Band 2/3 (Music 2/3) is a full year course for students who have completed Band 1. Through band as a performance ensemble, this course develops music performance skills, music literacy, critical evaluation and response to music, creative expression, and teaches historical and cultural relevance of music.
