Overview

Dear Parents:

   I am delighted to have your child in my art class this year!  I hope it will become their most favorite class of the day.   I know you will be thrilled at how quickly their art skills improve, and in awe of all the wonderful artwork they will create this year. Encourage your child to show you their artwork periodically – otherwise it might not make it home!

All students start with Art I or Honors Art I.  Once they have successfully passed one of these prerequisite courses, your student can then move on to Ceramics, Drawing II, Painting II, Honors Studio, etc. 

Art supply kits will be offered at the beginning of the year for the first three weeks of school.  Please check your child’s syllabus for details on prices.  If purchasing supplies presents a difficulty, please let me know and I will see that your child has what they need for the class.

The Visual Art Scholastic Event will take place in late February.  I would like to encourage our art students to participate this spring no matter what level or class they are in.  We have other art competitions that we participate in that occur throughout the year.  Guyer Art students are famous for winning at every level!

I have been teaching in the art field at the college level as well as the high school level for over 18 years.  I look forward to every new year!
