Texas Bluebonnet Reading Program (3rd-5th grades)
The Pecan Creek Library is open daily, Monday through Friday, during school hours. K - 3rd grade students come with their class to the library each week for story time, library lessons, research activities, and/or checkout time. Pre-K, 4th, and 5th grade students visits every other week with their teachers. Students are welcome and encouraged to come to the library anytime to turn in books they've finished reading and check out new ones.
Pre K - classroom bucket of books to share. Books stay in the classroom
Kinder - 1 book every week to keep in the classroom
1st grade - 1 book every week to keep in the classroom (teacher may start sending library books home after winter break)
2nd graders - 2 books per week and may take home to read
3rd graders - 2 books per week and may take home to read
4th graders - 2 to 3 books every other week and may take home to read
5th graders - 3 books once a month* and may take home to read.
*Students may come down as needed to pick new books between class visits.
No late fees are charged. If a book is lost or damaged, famlies will be charged a replacement fee (based on the value of the book).
